Who I Am
I know one of the questions we ask when seeking a new provider is, “Will I be safe here?” Because I believe that you are the expert on yourself, I want you to be able to make that determination. Here is a little more about me;
I identify as white, fat, queer, non-monogamous, kinky, and areligious. I am a liberation focused, kink positive, pro-sex work, and a Health at Every Size aligned provider. My firm belief is that every individual has a unique perspective on the human experience and should be treated as such with dignity and respect.
Outside of the office, I enjoy being outdoors and connecting with others by hiking with my partner and close friends. However, I am an introvert and also love a rainy day where I am snuggled with my dog and a good book. I also consider myself to be a “cultural nerd”. I enjoy video games, sci-fi & fantasy, board games, anime, and tabletop RPGs. If you are looking for a therapist that can help you understand yourself better through your preferred D&D class, you have found them.
What I Do
“We tend to think of healing as something binary: either we’re broken or we’re healed from that brokenness. But that’s not how healing operates, and it’s almost never how human growth works. More often, healing and growth take place on a continuum, with innumerable points between utter brokenness and total health.” —Resmaa Menakem
If you are taking a look at this page, there is a good chance that you fall somewhere on that continuum of healing. You may feel more aligned with utter brokenness than total health at this point, but you have taken a first step. You are here.
Oftentimes, we have a hard time recognizing the patterns and systems we fall into. My role is to help you identify those as a curious observer. I like to ask questions that require my clients to turn inward and explore themselves in a deeper capacity. I utilize reflection and summarization of your own insight and experience in order to help you identify barriers that may feel insurmountable on your own. My goal is to create a space of radical acceptance, honesty, and healing in order for you and I to work together to dismantle those barriers and move toward living the life you desire.
The approach I use in therapy is rooted in trauma-informed and client centered methodologies, and I value a relational style of therapy. My specialities include working with clients experiencing anxiety & depression, symptoms of trauma, body image, identity struggles, and significant life changes. I work with couples on building strong communication, conflict resolution, fostering intimacy, and navigating polyamorous or non-monogomous relationships. I am also pursuing further education and supervision in Sex Therapy and enjoy working with indivduals and couples around shame & guilt surrounding sex, communication regarding physical desires & fetishes, and navigating kink/BDSM dynamics.
